Where do the words come from?
Life, love, laughter and little things
- that sometimes turn out to mean a lot
Lyrics book
Lyrics

-
Deep in a forest of shadows
Walking with leaves at your feet
Silence your only companion
Falling apart at the seams
As I speak
Popular myth, misconception
Flagrant contempt for the truth
Wearing a mantle of sunshine
Trapped in a noose
Of your youth
Ready to jump
Lost in space
You're just lost in space
Take a deep breath
While you can still
Press on the pulse of your neck
Just cos the road's unfamiliar
That doesn't mean you won't find
Your way back
Planets rotate with precision
Tides are turning with time
Order replace all the chaos
Then I hope you'll find
Your planets align
Lost in space
You're just lost in space
Weightless
And floating
Free falling free
Feeling invisible
You're not invisible
To me
Lost in space
You're just lost in space
I look forward
To your
Return

VERSE 1
Tree stands still
Like a warrior
Until that soldier falls
Rivers flow
They make waves
You know
When they become the sea
Moon and sun
Move like one
On the dance floor
CHORUS
In this time space continuum
We can over-analyse
Complicate for the sake of it
Make a shambles of our lives
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself
VERSE 2
Rock and stone
Like blood and bone
Of our ancestry
Earth
Be strong
Kia Kaha our song
What do we really mean?
When we feed our greed
With what we need
And with what we don’t
CHORUS
In this time space continuum
We can over-analyse
Complicate for the sake of it
Make a shambles of our lives
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself
VERSE 3
Now and then
Like boys to men
Our understanding grows
But from the start
Our head
Our heart
Deny the things they know
Ice will melt
But it won’t be felt
Until we realise
CHORUS
In this time space continuum
We can over-analyse
Complicate for the sake of it
Make a shambles of our lives
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself
Rescue me from myself

If we look back even a little way, we will find shared ancestry. Giving us more in common than we might sometimes admit We are the present day embodiment of so many cultures and loves from the past.
Blended Blessings weaves the traditional Irish Blessing with Te Reo, as an acknowledgment of a shared heritage ❤️

Rosie’s first solo release.
Written & recorded in 2019 at the Outland Sessions Songwriter Retreat, human was first released as part of a compilation album called Storytellers. It is re-released now, as a single.
Lyrics
What will make it better?
If you cry in the night
If you dance under the moonlight
And drive your car faster
Have a cigarette
Another drink to forget
Drown your sorrow and regret
Until you're happy
I've been watching you
I feel your pain too
When you're most alone
In a crowd or on your own
Feeling sorry for yourself
And all you've done wrong
Cast a look around
All the people that you see
Everyone, including me
Is less than perfect
I've been watching you
I feel your pain too
I am human too
I am human too
I am human too
I am human too

Some of what I was thinking as I wrote human.
I thought about a former work colleague who took his own life.
That was the first time I understood that there could be a selfless motive for suicide.
Up until then, I had thought that when someone committed suicide it was because of some extreme preoccupation with themselves – and a complete absence of regard or care for the pain they are inflicting on the loved ones left behind.
But with his passing, I realised that he had more likely done it because he thought he had nothing good to offer his family.
I think he really thought they’d be better off without him.
He had his demons. And he was an intensely private person who seldom talked about the pain he carried.
The irony that the church could not contain the mourners was just so upsetting.
In 2019, I thought a lot about the struggles that people are going through.
I met some beautiful people and was surprised to learn that I sometimes thought more of them than they did of themselves.
It was a year of reflection and introspection.
And ideas that I had held for years no longer stood up to scrutiny.
Once human was written, I looked at its simplicity and kicked myself.
Here I was, surrounded by 20 or so crazy clever musical artists – and all the gear necessary to make extraordinarily complex compositions and – though it did benefit from the talent and love of those around me, the song just didn’t need a lot of complication.
